To promote and enhance initiatives that further the ecological sustainability of Maine.
To promote increased energy conservation and to encourage the use of alternative energy resources.
To promote the development of a sustainable food system through a better understanding of farming a and a sustainable food network. To increase the appreciation of locally grown foods, and to encourage marketing opportunities for local growers.
To introduce a design process to integrate earth needs, people needs and ethics of fair share to personal and community solutions for sustainable development.
To educate Maine residents and visitors on key public policy issues relating to sustainability, and to represent their interests before local and state governments and agencies.
To encourage the Mid-Maine community to a) RETHINK resource consumption and to integrate all related aspects into our decision-making to minimize environmental impact, b) to REDUCE consumption, c) to encourage REUSE options to conserve resources, and d) to RECYCLE (and compost!) when reuse is not an option.
To disseminate information on sustainable transportation services and to encourage their use by the Mid-Maine community.
